Landscape photographer Jonathan Genevaux visited the club to present "Waterscapes". One emphasis of his presentation was on preparation for photographic sessions. He mentioned various applications he uses when preparing to go on a landscape photo shoot. Here are some of them:
Researching location
Understanding the light
- PhotoPills (mobile app only)
Weather forecasting
- Met Office cloud cover maps (also available on the app)
- Windy.com (available on both desktop and app)

When the information above was posted on the club's online forum some members posted their own suggestions.
Club member Vince Mann said "I’ve used this web site when kayaking around UK …..can be helpful for tide times ( neaps / springs etc ) as well as weather conditions etc - it's FREE just input your location." - WillyWeather
Club member Simon Meeds said "I've been using The Photographer's Ephemeris since before I heard of PhotoPills, maybe before it existed. I have no idea whether it's better, worse, or just different. I paid my one-off fee and continue to use it for all sorts of reasons, not just photography. So, I can vouch for using this sort of application."
